In addition to General Responsibilities mandated by Rules 1.0 through 1.47 of the General Code of Operating Rules, Transportation Specialists will participate in the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movements of trains (or cars) in train, yard and switching operations, either as engineer, if certified, or as conductor/brakeman.
Supports safe industrial rail switching, train handling, ground operations, records, and customer coordination.
Performs train service, switching, ground operations, records, and railroad communications in compliance with operating rules.
Maintains track infrastructure, railroad properties, facilities, and equipment within the assigned geographic area.
Performs right-of-way, station, track, and structure inspection, upkeep, repair, and maintenance activities.
Maintains, diagnoses, and repairs locomotives to support safe, reliable, and FRA-compliant operations.
Maintains track infrastructure, railroad properties, facilities, and equipment within the assigned geographic area.
Inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and maintains railcars in compliance with FRA specifications and operating needs.
Provides passenger train conductor service while supporting safety, customer assistance, announcements, reporting, and compliance.
Combines conductor, mechanical, welding, and rail yard responsibilities to support industrial rail operations.
Supports safe industrial rail switching, train handling, ground operations, records, and customer coordination.
Supervises track and structure maintenance programs, capital projects, crews, safety compliance, and budgets.
Inspects, maintains, repairs, documents, and supports safe operation of track, bridges, and related infrastructure.
Manages procurement, inventory, material controls, reporting, and asset management support for rail operations.
Leads signal and communications system maintenance, testing, compliance, staff oversight, and performance reporting.
Oversees maintenance of way operations, track infrastructure, bridge programs, inspections, planning, and compliance.
Leads safety, training, quality assurance, investigations, compliance, and continuous improvement for rail operations.
Maintains, inspects, tests, and troubleshoots railroad signal, grade crossing, switch, electric lock, and E-ATC systems.
Provides first-level IT support for employee hardware, software, Microsoft 365, workstation, and connectivity needs.
