Job Summary
Nebraska Central Railroad Company is seeking an individual interested in the mechanical field as a Locomotive Mechanic. This position is responsible for keeping locomotives operational and maintained in a safe, reliable manner that meets applicable FRA specifications and regulations. The role provides support for operations with field diagnosis, light and heavy repair, routine maintenance, and travel within the assigned geographic area. Mechanical knowledge is required, and electrical knowledge and welding ability are a plus.
Responsibilities
• Keep locomotives operational and maintained in a safe and reliable manner.
• Ensure locomotive maintenance meets applicable FRA specifications and regulations.
• Provide field diagnosis and operational support.
• Perform light repair, heavy repair, and routine maintenance of locomotives.
• Use mechanical knowledge of machines and tools to support repair and maintenance activities.
• Travel and work within the assigned geographic area.
Requirements
• Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
• Ability to speak English clearly and concisely to communicate with coworkers and supervisors.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors, and customers.
• Ability to effectively handle conflict situations.
• Must be able to read and comprehend regulations and instructions.
• Must possess good verbal communication skills.
• Must be capable of performing physically strenuous work on a continuous basis.
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Previous locomotive mechanical work experience preferred.
• Electrical knowledge and welding ability are a plus.
