Job Summary

The CDL Driver/Operator is responsible for operating commercial vehicles and equipment in support of railroad Maintenance of Way activities. This position transports tools, materials, and equipment to job sites, assists with loading and unloading, and performs general track maintenance and field labor as needed. The role is hands-on and requires working outdoors in an active railroad environment.

Responsibilities

- Safely operate commercial trucks and assigned equipment. - Transport track materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites. - Load, unload, secure, and move materials and equipment. - Perform required vehicle and equipment inspections. - Operate equipment and machinery as trained and authorized. - Assist with track maintenance, construction, and repair activities. - Perform general labor, including lifting, carrying, digging, and material handling. - Maintain vehicles and equipment in a safe and clean condition. - Follow DOT, railroad, company, and job-site safety requirements. - Perform other Maintenance of Way duties as assigned. - Report any concerns that cannot be resolved onsite and may require additional assistance.

Requirements

- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), class A is preferred - Ability to meet applicable DOT requirements. - Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles and equipment. - Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift and move materials. - Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. - Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed. - Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of a field crew. - Railroad, Maintenance of Way, construction, or heavy equipment experience preferred.
