Job Summary
Rio Grande Pacific Technology is seeking a Railroad Systems Maintainer based out of the RioTech office in Lewisville, Texas. This position provides responsive and compliant signal maintenance in the Lewisville area, including FRA-governed grade crossing inspection and maintenance, mainline switch inspection and maintenance, electric lock maintenance, and E-ATC Positive Train Control enabled wayside signal system maintenance. This position reports directly to the Signal Maintenance Supervisor in Lewisville.
Responsibilities
• Inspect and test grade crossing circuitry using standard electrical and electronic testing equipment.
• Inspect, test, and maintain batteries to ensure proper operation of grade crossing and wayside signal equipment.
• Test and adjust M-23 dual control mainline switch machines.
• Test and adjust electric locks and associated circuitry.
• Test and adjust wayside signal systems, including active E-ATC Positive Train Control systems.
• Document work activities and inspections in accordance with railroad, state transportation department, and FRA requirements.
• Receive trouble calls from the dispatcher and mobilize to the trouble location.
Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.
• Valid Texas Class C driver's license required and must be maintained throughout employment.
• At least 2 years of previous signal maintenance experience.
• Completion of signal apprentice training preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Ability to stay on task and meet important deadlines.
• Outgoing, self-motivated team player.
• Typical workdays are Monday through Friday, with availability required for emergencies, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call situations.
• Must pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
• Must demonstrate auditory and visual acuity and be able to work outdoors in all climate conditions.
• Must be able to occasionally exert strong force, lift and move materials, walk extended distances over uneven terrain, and move comfortably including stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
• Must complete and maintain all required safety certifications and annual testing.
• Required background investigation may include criminal history, driving history, employment history, and Social Security number verification.
