Job Summary
Rio Grande Pacific Transit Group is seeking a Track Inspector responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing track infrastructure to support safe and compliant railroad operations. This role requires hands-on maintenance of way experience, technical track measurement skills, and the ability to identify, document, and correct defects across track, bridges, and associated structures.
Responsibilities
• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on track, bridges, and track drainage systems in accordance with FRA standards.
• Work on FRA track classes from Excepted through Class IV, including jointed rail and continuously welded rail.
• Use standard track measurement tools, including track level board, measuring tape, track gauge, and string line.
• Measure profile, cross level, warp, runoff, curve evaluation, and Vmax speed determination.
• Read strip charts accurately and assign appropriate remedial actions to rail and track defects.
• Perform emergency inspection on open-deck and ballasted-deck bridges.
• Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and communication regarding inspection results and maintenance needs.
Requirements
• Minimum 1 year of freight or commuter railroad maintenance of way experience.
• Hands-on experience with track installation, restoration, and component repair.
• Strong working knowledge of FRA track safety standards and defect identification.
• Demonstrated ability to use required track inspection tools and measurement methods.
• Ability to analyze strip charts and determine correct remedial actions.
• Experience inspecting open-deck and ballasted-deck bridges preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
