Job Summary
Rio Grande Pacific Transit Group is seeking a Material Manager to oversee procurement, inventory, and material management processes supporting rail operations and maintenance. This role ensures materials are ordered, received, stored, distributed, tracked, and documented accurately while supporting operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and federal reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
• Oversee procurement activities including purchasing, vendor coordination, documentation, and tracking.
• Manage material storage, handling, inventory control, and distribution functions.
• Ensure accurate and timely data entry into material management and electronic asset management systems.
• Develop material management procedures that support operational reliability and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct monthly material meetings with internal end users to review inventory status, needs, and performance.
• Maintain procurement and material management reporting required by federal funding agencies, including the FRA and FTA.
• Monitor inventory levels to minimize stock-outs and ensure efficient material workflows.
• Ensure procurement documentation complies with industry standards, procurement regulations, contractual requirements, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, finance, and leadership teams to forecast material requirements and improve processes.
Requirements
• Minimum 6 years of experience in material management and inventory control.
• Familiarity with railroad industry procurement standards and material regulations.
• Strong understanding of federal procurement regulations and reporting requirements, including FRA and FTA.
• Experience using an electronic asset management system within a railroad or rail transit environment.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced operational setting.
